Rubella IgG Test

Blood Test
Reports in 1 Day
The rubella test is a routine blood test performed as part of prenatal care of pregnant women. It is sometimes also used to screen women of childbearing age before the first pregnancy. The test is given to evaluate whether a woman is immune to rubella (German measles) as a result of childhood exposure or immunization. The question of a current infection is particularly urgent for pregnant women. Although the disease itself is not serious in adults, it can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or damage to the fetus during the first trimester (three months) of pregnancy. The rubella test is regarded as a more reliable indication of the patient's immune status than her history, because reinfection with rubella is possible even after immunization. The results of the test may influence decisions to terminate a pregnancy.

Rubella IgM Test

Blood Test
Reports in 1 Day
The Rubella test may be done to detect a recent infection of the virus. Rubella is the virus that causes German measles. If contracted early in the pregnancy, the infant may develop heart disease, retarded growth, hearing loss, blood disorders, vision problems, or pneumonia. Problems that may develop during childhood include autism, brain problems, immune disorders, or thyroid disease. When a person is infected with the rubella virus, the body produces both immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodies to fight the infection. Once IgG exists, it persists for a lifetime, but the special IgM antibody usually wanes over six months. The rubella test is a routine blood test performed as part of prenatal care of pregnant women. It is sometimes also used to screen women of childbearing age before the first pregnancy.

TB - IgA Test

Blood Test
Reports in 1 Day
The IgA anti TB test is limited to the qualitative detection of antibodies to Mycobacterium tuberculosis in human serum, plasma. It also recognizes antibodies of Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium africanum. The test is a qualitative screening assay and is not for determining quantitative concentration of TB antibodies. Tuberculosis is a disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium tuberculosis which usually attacks the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body. It may cause pulmonary tuberculosis and other infections such as those of the skin and abdomen. It is spread through the air when people who have the disease cough, sneeze, or spit.

A tissue transglutaminase IgA test is used as part of an evaluation for certain autoimmune conditions, most notably celiac disease. An autoimmune disease can occur when the body's immune system mistakenly perceives a nonthreatening substance. In the case of people with celiac disease, gluten (a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats) is seen as a foreign invader and is attacked by the immune system. This immune system response in celiac disease also involves the production of antibodies directed against an enzyme normally present in the intestines called tissue transglutaminase (tTG).

Torch tests consist of group of test used to detect recent or past Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus and Herpes infection typically in newborn or during pregnancy in woman. It may be done when a pregnant woman shows signs of the above illnesses or when the baby is born with congenital abnormalities due to one of the diseases of the Torch Panel. This test is also done as a part of the antenatal check-up in pregnant women and in those women who have had recurrent abortions. TORCH is a medical acronym for a group of infectious diseases ( Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus and Herpes infection) that may infect adults or more commonly pregnant women and may be passed on to the baby causing birth defects, growth delay, neurological problems or miscarriage.

A toxoplasmosis test is used to detect a past infection with the microscopic parasite Toxoplasma gondii. The test may be done soon after pregnancy to detect toxoplasmosis infection in a newborn baby or to screen pregnant women for the antibodies to the parasite. Toxoplasmosis is a disease of the cats caused by a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii and may cause flu-like symptoms. It can also be carried by many warm-blooded animals (birds or mammals). Human infection results from ingestion of the parasites in raw or undercooked meat, contaminated vegetables or other foods, following careless handling of cat litter, or from soil by soil-eating children. It can also be transmitted during pregnancy via the placenta. Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic infection that can be passed from mother to baby through the placenta during pregnancy. An infection with Toxoplasma gondii can cause eye and central nervous system infections as well as brain and muscle cysts. If acquired during the pregnancy, it may result in a miscarriage or cause birth defects, though this depends on the time during the pregnancy in which the infection was acquired by the mother.

A toxoplasmosis test is a blood test that checks for antibodies to the Toxoplasma gondiiparasite. Your body's natural defense system (immune system) will make these antibodies only if you have been infected by this tiny parasite. The amount and type of antibodies you have shows whether your infection is recent or occurred in the past. The test may be done soon after pregnancy to detect toxoplasmosis infection in a newborn baby or to screen pregnant women for the antibodies to the parasite. Treponema Pallidum antibodies detect antibodies to the bacterium that causes syphilis (Treponema pallidum) in blood, body fluid, or tissue. If an initial screening test shows signs of syphilis, another test is done to confirm a syphilis infection. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that is usually spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Tis test can be used to detect syphilis except during the first 3 to 4 weeks after exposure to syphilis bacteria.
