Liver Function Test (LFT) Profile

1. Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP)

Measures ALP enzyme levels. Helps detect bone disorders, liver disease, tumors, or bile flow obstruction.

2. Total Bilirubin

Measures combined direct & indirect bilirubin. Used to detect jaundice, liver dysfunction, and abnormal red cell breakdown.

3. Direct Bilirubin

Evaluates conjugated bilirubin. Helps diagnose biliary obstruction or impaired bilirubin clearance.

4. Indirect Bilirubin

Measures unconjugated bilirubin. Helps evaluate hemolysis, liver uptake capacity, and metabolic abnormalities.

5. Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT)

Differentiates liver disease from bone disorders and assesses bile duct blockage. Also useful for monitoring alcohol-related liver stress.

6. Aspartate Aminotransferase (SGOT)

Assesses liver cell integrity and muscular injury. Elevated levels are seen in hepatitis, liver necrosis, and tissue damage.

7. Alanine Transaminase (SGPT)

Highly sensitive to liver cell damage. Helps detect hepatitis, drug-induced liver injury, and metabolic inflammation.

8. Total Protein

Measures total circulating protein. Indicates nutrition status, immune response, infection, and liver function.

9. Albumin

Evaluates liver synthetic function and kidney filtration. Low albumin may indicate malnutrition, liver disease, or renal impairment.

10. Serum Globulin

Assesses immune proteins produced by the liver and immune system. Imbalances are seen in chronic inflammation, autoimmune disorders, and liver disease.
