Audiometry Test (Hearing Test)

The Audiometry Test measures how well sound travels through the ear by checking responses to different sound frequencies and volumes using headphones and bone-conduction devices. During the test, the patient listens to tones and signals whenever the sound is heard.

This helps identify:

• The softest sound a person can hear at each frequency

• Whether hearing loss is mild, moderate, severe, or profound

• Whether the issue lies in the outer ear, middle ear, inner ear, or auditory nerve

Audiometry is a safe, painless, and quick test and plays a critical role in:

• Early detection of permanent hearing damage

• Fitting appropriate hearing aids

• Monitoring hearing loss progression

• Supporting ENT surgical decisions

Patient Preparation Instructions:

1. No fasting is required.

2. Avoid exposing ears to loud noise for 24 hours before the test.

3. Inform the technician about:

   • Current ear infections

   • Use of hearing aids

   • History of ear surgeries

4. Children should be well-rested before testing for accurate results.
