A toxoplasmosis test is used to detect a past infection with the microscopic parasite Toxoplasma gondii. The test may be done soon after pregnancy to detect toxoplasmosis infection in a newborn baby or to screen pregnant women for the antibodies to the parasite. Toxoplasmosis is a disease of the cats caused by a parasite called Toxoplasma gondii and may cause flu-like symptoms. It can also be carried by many warm-blooded animals (birds or mammals). Human infection results from ingestion of the parasites in raw or undercooked meat, contaminated vegetables or other foods, following careless handling of cat litter, or from soil by soil-eating children. It can also be transmitted during pregnancy via the placenta. Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic infection that can be passed from mother to baby through the placenta during pregnancy. An infection with Toxoplasma gondii can cause eye and central nervous system infections as well as brain and muscle cysts. If acquired during the pregnancy, it may result in a miscarriage or cause birth defects, though this depends on the time during the pregnancy in which the infection was acquired by the mother.

A toxoplasmosis test is a blood test that checks for antibodies to the Toxoplasma gondiiparasite. Your body's natural defense system (immune system) will make these antibodies only if you have been infected by this tiny parasite. The amount and type of antibodies you have shows whether your infection is recent or occurred in the past. The test may be done soon after pregnancy to detect toxoplasmosis infection in a newborn baby or to screen pregnant women for the antibodies to the parasite. Treponema Pallidum antibodies detect antibodies to the bacterium that causes syphilis (Treponema pallidum) in blood, body fluid, or tissue. If an initial screening test shows signs of syphilis, another test is done to confirm a syphilis infection. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that is usually spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Tis test can be used to detect syphilis except during the first 3 to 4 weeks after exposure to syphilis bacteria.

The treponema pallidum particle agglutination assay (also called TPPA test) is used for detection of antibodies against the causative agent of syphilis. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) that is usually spread through vaginal, anal, or oral sex. Detection of the antibody becomes possible 3-4 weeks following infection. Detectable levels may remain for long periods after treatment.

This test is used to detect allergy to vegetarian food. It is caused when the body mistakenly makes an antibody (IgE) which 'fights off' the food when it is eaten (or sometimes is just in contact with the skin, or is smelt). The symptoms are usually those of 'classic' allergy such as rashes, wheezing, itching, severe gut symptoms or (very rarely) sudden collapse.

This test is used to identify the presence of rickettsia and type of rickettsial disease . The Weil-Felix test is a test for the diagnosis of typhus and certain other rickettsial infections. Rickettsia are bacteria that are carried by many ticks, fleas, lice and cause diseases in humans. Rickettsial disease encompasses a group of diseases caused by the microorganisms such as typhus, rickettsial pox, Boutonneuse fever, African tick bite fever.

This test used to determine level of AMH in Blood. it is produced in the testicles in males and in the ovaries in females. The role of AMH and the amount normally present varies depending upon sex and age. The level of AMH in a woman's blood is generally a good indicator of her ovarian reserve. Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is a protein hormone produced by granulosa cells (cells lining the egg sacs or follicles) within the ovary. AMH can be measured in the blood at any time in the menstrual cycle as it is stable throughout the cycle. It is a marker for ovarian (egg) reserve. For accurate assessment, it should be combined with antral follicle count – AFC (number of small follicles within both ovaries) as seen on expert fertility (transvaginal) ultrasound scan. AMH and AFC can help to determine the best strategy for IVF treatment. AMH levels are naturally lower in older women (particularly after the age of 40) and higher in women with Polycystic Ovaries (PCO) or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Normal AMH and AFC levels can be re-assuring for a woman who wants to find out about her egg reserve and fertility potential.

17-OH progesterone is a blood test used to detect congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) in neonates (newborn), older children and adults. It may also be done in adults along with other hormonal assays to rule out cases of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and infertility and also in rare cases to evaluate suspected cases of adrenal and ovarian cancers. CAH is a glandular disorder that produces an imbalance of the male sex hormone androgen. This hormone is primarily produced in the adrenal glands and to some degree in the gonads, specifically the corpus luteum of the ovary.

This test measures the amount of androstenedione in the blood. Androstenedione is a steroid sex hormone produced in the adrenal glands and the gonads. This test is used when women are suspected of virilizing syndromes i.e. a condition where females develop male sexual characteristics due to of high testosterone levels in them. This test is also used when steroid abuse is suspected. It is not as useful as 17-OH progesterone in diagnosis of congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) but is helpful in management of such patients. In CAH, the male (46 XY) babies have female or ambiguous genitalia and at puberty, marked virilization occurs.

B-HCG Test

Blood Test
Reports in 3 days
A quantitative human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) test measures the specific level of HCG in the blood. HCG is a hormone produced in the body during pregnancy. It may be used to confirm a pregnancy. It may also be used, along with a progesterone test, to help diagnose an ectopic pregnancy, to help diagnose and monitor a pregnancy that may be failing, and/or to monitor a woman after a miscarriage. HCG can first be detected in a blood sample approximately 11 days after conception. Levels of hCG continue to double every 72 hours and reach their peak around eight to eleven weeks after conception. HCG levels then decline and level off, remaining steady for the rest of the pregnancy.

A test for catecholamines measures the amount of the hormones epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the blood. Catecholamines are neurotransmitters. These proteins help transmit signals in your body and brain. They help control a variety of functions, including muscle tone, blood pressure, heart rate. Catecholamines are primarily produced in your adrenal glands. Levels fluctuate in response to physical and emotional stress.A catecholamine test is done to help diagnose a tumor in the adrenal glands called a pheochromocytoma.

Cortisol Test

Blood Test
Reports in 2 days
This test is a measure of serum cortisol (also known as hydrocortisone), an important hormone produced by a pair of endocrine glands called the adrenal glands. Its primary functions are to increase blood sugar through gluconeogenesis, suppress the immune system, and aid the metabolism of fat, protein, and carbohydrate. It also decreases bone formation. This test is performed on patients who may have malfunctioning adrenal glands. Blood and urine cortisol, together with the determination of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), are the three most important tests in the investigation of Cushing's syndrome (caused by an overproduction of cortisol) and Addison's disease (caused by the underproduction of cortisol).
