This test measures the level of ACCP in blood. Anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibodies is used in diagnosis of in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Anti- CCP which stands for anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibody (CCP) is a blood test to confirm a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. This test detects the presence of citrulline antibodies in the blood. These autoantibodies are proteins produced by the immune system in response to perceived threat from citrulline. Conversion of arginine to citrulline plays a role in the autoimmune inflammatory process seen in the joints of those with Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RA is a chronic systemic autoimmune disease that causes inflammation, pain, stiffness, and destructive changes in the hands, feet, and other joints throughout the body.
