Bleeding time

Why get tested?

The test determines how quickly blood clots to stop bleeding. These Clots are formed when platelets stick to each other and seal the injury. Abnormal results may indicate that blood vessel has a defect, genetic platelet function defect, primary thrombocythemia a condition in which bone marrow creates more platelets, thrombocytopenia a condition that causes the body to produce more platelets, Von Willebrand’s disease which is a hereditary condition that affects how blood clots.
